![]() ![]() ![]() Look around or press a button and the game will begin to speed up, projectiles and adversaries flying towards you in a flash. Enemies stand like statues while bullets linger in the air, moving as if through treacle. Remain still in one of its wickedly stylish combat arenas, and the world will hang in an almost-frozen state. Just like consoles, it'll take some up hill battles, it needs that loyal fanbase, etc.Taking place in a computer simulation where the world is carved from alabaster and your opponents made of orange glass, Superhot hinges on the gimmick that time only moves when you do. We'll see more breakthroughs and bigger VR content it more when the tech/software matures of course but that's only if people continue to help VR grow. The Quest is a really great entry but we're not going to get that high-end VR WOW factor on mobile VR headsets just yet. PCVR is very affordable today but it's still clunky. They can push high-end VR for the masses. If sony brings out a new VR device in the next year or two than I will be very hopeful that VR is here to stay. Facebook, Sony, and Valve are doing a hell of a job though. However, in a this new age of utter excess in every media platform, it's hard to convince people to buy a relatively pricey device to play bit sized, really specialized content. VR reminds me of the old games when gaming was new in general and it was one man devs and small game teams making the content. This is hard for people with catalogs of games and other things to do for pennies in comparison. We have this entire entitled, fickle community that VR pioneers are trying to convince that VR will be something cool in the future you just have to hang in there, the future will look bright but it will cost to get early entry. We get people comparing prices to flat games, we get people complaining about sales, sale pricing, etc. It straight up baffles me how anyone in their right mind can compare it to that market. The biggest problem right now that I see is people continue to compare VR to other mediums that have had decades to mature. This is why Facebook is buying up studios to secure talent that can continue to create bigger titles so smaller indies and developers can make the filler content that people still do enjoy.
